Recycled paperboard is the foundation of Caraustar. We have ten paperboard mills located in the West, South, Midwest and along the Eastern Seaboard. We are the only major company producing grades in all four of the industry's principal markets of tubes and cores; folding cartons; gypsum wallboard facing paper; and other specialty paperboard products.

Our performance within the industry speaks for itself. We are the number one overall supplier of recycled boxboard in the United States, one of the top five carton board suppliers and the number two supplier of paperboard to the tubes, cores and composite containers markets. We are also the largest independent supplier of gypsum wallboard facing paper in North America.

To ensure maximum production efficiency and capacity utilization, each Caraustar mill produces paperboard for at least two of these four principal markets. Our mills produce a broad range of 100% recycled uncoated and coated paperboard. Uncoated grades include chipboard, boxboard and specialty grades. Our coated board is produced in a wide variety including clay coated news back, barrier boards and detergent board grades. We produce gypsum facing paper in creamface, grayback, grey veneer and green and brown sta-dri grades. We have recently introduced SafeFace MR™ , a revolutionary new gypsum facing paper that offers a superior level of mold, mildew and moisture resistance that is comparable to that achieved with the alternative glass mat wallboard products. Along with state-of-the-art paper machines, several of our mills have on-site converting processes including roll laminating, guillotine cutting and sheet pasting. This allows us to convert finished stock for a variety of applications including precision-cut paperboard blanks for book binding and other industries.
