Caraustar is the second largest manufacturer of spiral- and convolute-wound tubes and cores in North America. Since its inception in 1955, Caraustar’s tube and core group has grown through acquisitions, joint ventures and greenfield start ups. The company’s tube and core plants have been updated with the latest manufacturing technology to provide low-cost packaging solutions to its customers on a consistent and timely basis.

Caraustar’s tubes and cores are used in a variety of industrial end uses including paper and paperboard; film and flexible packaging; textile, carpet, synthetic yarn and fiber; construction and mining; tape and label; fiberglass, metal and foil; automotive and a host of other specialty applications.

At its strategically located facilities throughout North America, tubes and cores are manufactured to exacting customer specifications including dimensional specifications, physical strength requirements and specific end-use performance attributes. A multitude of Caraustar’s products are custom designed for unique end-use requirements.

Many of Caraustar’s products are known by their trade name such as the Konva-Kore® product line which is the most widely used core in the carpet industry. The company’s Kolumn Form™ product line is a common-place product used for the pouring of concrete columns. Caraustar is the leader in the design, development and manufacture of paper tubes used by the automotive industry for sound attenuation in drive shafts.

Caraustar is a major producer of specialty protective packaging products including products such as Protect-A-Board, Protect-A-Wrap, Protect-A-Coil and Lay Flat Tubing. These products are generally used for edge or corner protection, to provide stacking strength, supply edge protection on circular/coiled products and for stabilization of unitized/palletized packaging. These products are designed to prevent damage associated with shipping and handling. Caraustar has five Protect-A-Board manufacturing locations in the United States, with numerous stocking warehouses strategically located to service its distributor customer base.
