Brokering
Caraustar has strategically located fiber buyers and brokers who can offer specialized brokerage services for all grades of recovered fiber including hard to recycled paper grades.

Collecting
Caraustar's recycling centers buy all grades of paper, paperboard and pulp. Some of Caraustar's sources include paperboard mills who generate kraft linerboard, kraft paper, corrugating medium, white top linerboard, file folder, uncoated free sheet papers, bleached boards, and pulp. Many of these mill suppliers are also customers of Caraustar's tube and core plants. Other post industrial sources include every type of paper converting plant such as corrugated container converters, folding carton plants, envelope converters, copy paper converters, paper plate and cup converters, poly extrusion plants, bag converters, and all types of printers.

Caraustar offers recycling programs to collect post industrial grades from grocery and department stores, distribution centers and warehouses and waste haulers. Other sources include office and document shredding companies, other paper recycling centers , municipal recycling centers, schools, libraries, and churches. Caraustar's 100% recycled paperboard mills purchase old corrugated containers (OCC), mixed paper, newspaper, boxboard cuttings, cores, double lined kraft clippings (DLK) and hard white envelope cuttings (HWE). Suppliers have options to ship direct to our mills, or to our recycling centers for grading and processing. Caraustar is one of the largest book recyclers in the US. The recycling centers collect all grades of books including hard cover novels and textbooks, soft cover paperbacks, telephone books, catalogs, magazines, directories, and newspapers. Any printed paper material can be recycled. A letter of destruction can be offered for office files, and other printed paper that requires security destruction. While implementing recycling programs, Caraustar can also offer turnkey waste management services to facilitate the waste disposal needs for any business. Exporting
Caraustar sells fiber and stocklots to mills and converters in over 30 countries. The grades we export range from mixed paper on up to virgin Kraft linerboard rolls and bales. We use export sales to complement our domestic marketing which allows us to consistently sell fiber at the highest price for our suppliers while guaranteeing prompt service.

Mill Procurement
Caraustar can offer customized third party mill procurement services through our Caraustar Paper Sales group. This group, with over 150 years combined mill procurement expertise, know how to manage fiber purchases, quality control, transportation logistics, and inventories. Caraustar is the largest third party mill procurement provider in the industry

Processing
Caraustar mills consume multiple grades of paper. If you generate a grade that is not used in the paper making process at one of our own mills, we have supply agreements to move your paper to other mills. A by-product of some businesses is plastic, we have collection programs in place for this as well.

Shipping
The Recovered Fiber Group provides a vital service to Caraustar's recycled paperboard mills and customer mills worldwide, by sourcing paper for recycling. The company's eight paper recycling centers and 7 paper brokerage offices provide Caraustar customers with equipment, market knowledge, and volume leverage to ensure the success of their recycling programs. Caraustar plants also grade, process, and transload all grades for brokers that do not operate their own recycling plants.
